On 08/04/2025, The Magee Police Department responded to Magee Walmart and arrested Jovontae Badon and Lovie Russell for felony shoplifting (valued over $1,000). During the investigation, it was discovered that Lovie Russell had a positive NCIC hit for felony shoplifting out of Jones County. The Covington County Sheriff’s Department also confirmed that Ms. Russell had active felony warrants for shoplifting in their jurisdiction.
Several items worth thousands of dollars were recovered.
Both individuals were transported to the Magee Police Department, where they were placed on Attorney Contact Only (ACO) status until formal charges were filed.
Jovontae Badon was additionally charged with leaving the scene of an accident, no proof of liability insurance, and improper equipment.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Great job to Walmart and their Asset Protection agents for their quick response and teamwork. Their vigilance played a key role in identifying and recovering the stolen merchandise.
