A Message from Constable Evan Sellers Simpson County, Mississippi

July 17, 2026

Late in the evening on November 30, 2021 Magee Police Officers, Simpson County Deputies, and ASAP Ambulances responded to several vehicle accidents on US Hwy 49.  The first and most serious of which occurred on US 49 in front of O’Reilly Auto Parts, a 3-vehicle collision where a southbound Tahoe struck a Dodge Charger and veered to the right then striking a Dodge Challenger head-on.

Shortly afterwards, there was a collision on the frontage road near the Waffle House between a car and a Boswell Regional van.  While at this collision Officers also had to respond to a 1 vehicle crash involving children in the vehicle at US Hwy 49 southbound and Smith Crossing Rd where the vehicle ran into a drainage ditch.  Miraculously, there were no serious injuries in either of the accidents.  All vehicle occupants appeared to have been wearing seatbelts.  Wrecker services were needed at each of these accidents.

Our Department is extremely proud of all the help during the call volume this evening.  Deputies, Ambulances, and Wreckers were readily available and were on-scene in moments to clear the scene from one call to the next.  Although there were extra Officers on duty for the Magee Christmas Parade, Officers responded to numerous calls for service city-wide during and immediately following the parade.  Magee Police Department would like to sincerely thank Simpson County Sheriff’s Deputies for their assistance in the volume of calls during the busy time.  They were greatly needed for a quick Law Enforcement response to calls.
