From Whit:

Yesterday, our state’s largest newspaper, the Clarion Ledger, asked my opponent and me what our position is on one of the most talked about issues in the country – separating families at the border. I’m sharing with you his answer, my answer and breaking news from Pres. Trump on this issue.

Pres. Trump took action this afternoon by immediately stopping the policy of separating families who illegally cross the border. He showed compassion, but also stayed strong on working to secure our border.

Yesterday when asked, I took a stand on this issue. It was clear and detailed. “In America we must enforce our laws, but at the same time not tear families apart.” (Please read my full answer below.)

Yesterday when asked, my opponent whiffed and gave a non-answer, a political answer that said nothing. He didn’t even come close to saying what the President said today.

Pres. Trump stated today, “it’s about keeping families together, while ensuring we have a powerful, very strong border.” The President also said, “anybody with a heart would feel this way.”

The President needs more leaders fighting alongside him in Congress – not followers. I’m a leader – I never follow the crowd or stick my finger in the air to see which way the political wind is blowing.

My opponent has refused every opportunity to debate me. Yesterday’s exchange with the Clarion Ledger begs the question; maybe he is avoiding debates because he doesn’t have real answers to real questions.

My opponent wants the job without the job interview. Voters deserve better than that.
