Trojans won a conference game on the road to move to 2-0 in conference and 5-1 on the year. Magee beat the Indians by a score of 14-6.

Magee’s defense continues to produce each week. The defense was able to hold the Indians to only 6 points on the evening.

During the first quarter momentum was on the Trojan side when Magee’s defense recovered a fumble by Hazlehurst. Unfortunately, Magee was not able to capitalize on the turnover.

Trojans were tied with Hazlehurst 0-0 after the first ending of play.

Second quarter Magee found the end zone when #23 Jawon Shaw scored on a rushing touchdown. The point after attempt by #21 Gavyn Chafin was good. Magee was ahead by a score of 7-0.

Magee ‘s defense held strong and allowed no points by the Indians first half. Magee headed into half time leading by a score of 7-0.

Magee kicked off to Hazlehurst to start the second half. With nine minutes remaining in the third quarter Magee’s #3 Tristan Newsome score on a quarter back keeper with a rushing touchdown. #21 Chafin’s point after attempt was good. Magee was on top by a score of 14-0.

With five minutes remaining in regulation the Indians score on a completed pass. The point after attempt was no good. Magee lead by a score 14-6.

Magee’s defense held the Indians the remainder of the game to seal the win.

Coach Jones stated “He was very proud of our effort. Defensively, coach Milloy and his staff had a great plan, and they were lights out. Offensively, we are getting there, just gotta cut out a few mistakes. Also, Jonathan Barnes was big for us punting the ball. Big win over a good team!”

Magee will continue their road trip this week to face the Raleigh Lions in a 3A Region 6 outing Friday, October 15, 2021. The Lions hold a 4-1 overall recored and 2-0 in region play. This will be a large game with a lot on the line. The Lions are coming off a road win against Wesson by a score of 62-32.

Game time is 7:00 p.m.
