Magee edges by in a nail biter 28-22 on the road in a conference game against the Seminary Bulldogs Friday, October 2, 2020.

Seminary scored first on a passing touchdown with 8:00 left in the first quarter. The point after attempt was good. Seminary led by a score of 7-0.

Magee answered quickly on a 23-yard reception by #2 Chandler Pittman to #7 Xavier Franks for a touchdown. Magee went for the two-point conversion and failed. Seminary led Magee by a score of 7-6 to end the first quarter.

Second quarter tallied several points between both teams. Seminary scored with 10:00 left in the half on a rushing touchdown. The point after attempt was good. Seminary increased their lead by a score of 14-6.

Again, Magee wasted no time answering. Pittman and Franks would connect to score a 48 yard reception. The point conversion was good to tie the game at 14 all.

Pittman and Franks continued their groove connecting again on a 35-yard pass resulting in a touchdown. Magee decided to go for the 2-point conversion was successful with a pass from Pittman to #17 Kyerston Tucker. Magee led by a score of 22-14.

Seminary responded scoring on a passing touchdown. The Bulldogs attempted a two-point conversion and was successful to tie the game 22-22 at the half.

Defense played to each team’s favor scoring no points in the third quarter.

With three minutes left in the game, Magee scored on a rushing touchdown by Pittman. The point after attempt by #13 Gavin Chapin was no good. Magee was on top by a score of 28-22.

Magee’s defense would hold the Bulldogs to seal the win for the Trojans.  

Friday will be a battle of the Trojans as Magee host West Marion in a conference game at home. Friday will be homecoming for Magee. Homecoming festivities will take place at half time with announcing and crowing of the new Queen. The game will start at 7:00 p.m.

 

Coach Dyess stated “This is the best win we’ve has isnce I have been here. In the past we would have lost this game, but our kids have matured to the point that we can win a close game.”
