Magee Trojans faced off against Lanier Friday September 21, 2018 on Trojans field. Serving as captains for the Trojans were #88 Brayden Lambert, #61 Ladamein Ducksworth, #18 Jody Durr, and #79 Preston Grim.

Magee won the toss and received the opening kickoff. #26 Cayden Bridges for the Trojans ran the kickoff back to the Lanier 36-yard line. Next play #1 Josh Sanders received a 36-yard touchdown pass to cross the goal line first and scored. Magee’s point after attempt was good. Trojans take the lead 7-0. Magee’s defense came up with the big play on a pass interception by #26 Cayden Bridges on Lanier’s 41-yard line. Magee took over and capitalize on the turnover scoring on a 4-yard touchdown run by #5 Ross McInnis for Magee. Magee’s point after attempt was good and Trojans increased their lead 14-0. Magee’s defense was not finish and forced a fumble that was recovered by #11 Daryious Collins for a 26-yard touchdown. The point after attempt was good and Trojans led 21-0. With just seconds left in the first quarter, Magee was faced with a fourth down and four to go for the first down. Magee went for the first down and scored. Trojans end the first quarter with a score 28-0.

In the second quarter, Lanier found the end zone on a 20-yard pass to score. The point after attempt was no good.  Bulldogs are on the board 28-6. Magee had a good drive going but fumbled the ball and Lanier recovered on the Trojans 13-yard line. After 3 good defensive stops ,Lanier went for the end zone on fourth down and 12-yards to go. Trojan’s defense stopped the Bulldogs and Magee would take over on downs. Lanier closed the gap on a 65-yard touchdown pass to score. The 2-point conversion was good and Trojans entered halftime with a lead over the Bulldogs 28-12.

Magee kicked off to start the second half.  Lanier started from their own 15-yard line. The Bulldogs drove the ball down the field to score on a 2-yard touchdown run. The 2-point conversion was good and Lanier continued to close the gap with Trojans on top 28-20. Magee went three and out and had to punt to Lanier. Magee had a bad punt for only 12-yards. Lanier started from their own 50 yard line. Bulldogs scored on a 12-yard touchdown run. The two-point conversion was good and the game was tied at 28-28.

Magee  put a good drive together but turned the ball over on downs. Lanier took over and punted the ball. The punt was blocked by #26 Cayden Bridges and recovered for the Trojans on Lanier’s 6-yard line. #5 Ross McInnis for Magee scored and the point after attempt was good. The Trojans are back on top by a score of 25-28. #24 Steven Durr for Magee recovered a fumble on Lanier 30-yard line. #5 Ross McInnis for the Trojans scored on a 7-yard touchdown run. The point after attempt was good and Trojans increased their lead 42-28.

In the fourth quarter Magee’s #15 Bronsha Harris intercepted the ball and returned to their own 40-yard line. #5 Ross McInnis scored on a 5-yard touchdown run. Point after attempt was good and Magee led by a score of 49-28. Lanier answered with

a 73-yard touchdown pass. The two-point conversion was no good and Trojans on top 49-34. Magee’s #5 Ross McInnis scored on a 5-yard touchdown run. The point after attempt was good and Magee was up 56-34. Trojans found the end zone one last time for the evening when #15 Bronsha Harris scored on a 75-yard interception to end the game. Magee won by a score of 62-34.

Magee still continues to struggles with penalties. Many yellow flags were thrown on the night for each team. Trojans will take to the road to open up district play Friday, September 28, 2018 at Velma Jackson.

She was elected to a term on the Simpson County School Board. She has served on the Board of Directors for the Magee Chamber of Commerce. She serves on the Keep Magee Beautiful Committee and is a member of the Advisory Committee for the Simpson County Technical Center. Multiple times, Patrice was named Parent of the Year for Magee Schools as well as District Parent of the Year for the Simpson County School District. Patrice & her family are members of New Hope Baptist Church.
