The Magee Trojans came back with a punch as they scored 50 points over Newton’s 7! The plays were crowd invoking keeping the Trojan spirit high.

The Trojans started strong with numerous touchdowns in the first and second quarter of the game. Ross McInnis, #5, Chandler Pittman, #2, and Josh Sanders, #1, each scored a touchdown in the first quarter for a total of 21 points with only the last of the three earning a 2 point conversion. The second quarter went about as successful with Zacc Hall, #10, scoring a touchdown, Xavier Franks, #14, with a kickoff return touchdown, and Dayrious Collins, #1, with a fumble recovery touchdown.  With a team safety, the Trojans scored 22 more points bringing the score to 43-0 going into halftime!

During halftime, Trojan and Tiger fans witnessed Newton’s homecoming ceremonies as the NHS homecoming court graced the field. Fans were delighted with a beautiful fireworks display as their homecoming ceremonies concluded.

Back into the game, Magee made one final touchdown in the third quarter scored by #1, Josh Sanders. Newton was finally able to put points on the board scoring one touchdown, but it was all Magee would allow. The Trojans fought hard bringing the final score to 50-7.

Josh Sanders, #1, scoring two touchdown against the Tigers, stated, “It was a good team win.  Everyone came together and started clicking as one. Our coach is always telling us to get 1% better each day, and I think we are doing just that.”  When asked about the game, Coach Dyess stated, “We played really good in all three phases of the game. Once we got a big lead, we were a little sloppy, but we are thrilled to be 3-2.”

Come out and support your mighty Trojans as they face the Lanier Bulldogs at Trojan Field next Friday night, September 21.
