Magee High School football season comes to an end under new Head Football Coach Zack Jones. The student athletes bought into a new coach and respected him and his program.

Magee advanced to the second round of the playoffs to be eliminated on the road in a close game against an undefeated Enterprise team. With the victory, Enterprise moves to 12-0 on the season.

The Enterprise Bulldogs were able to edge the Trojans out in the final quarter of the game.

Enterprise crossed the goal line first during the first quarter. Bulldogs jumped out to a 7-0 lead over the Trojans. Both teams saw action in the second quarter scoring touchdowns. The Bulldogs entered into half time with a lead of 14-7 over Magee.

Second half Magee scored in the third quarter to even the score 14-14. The Trojans defense held strong but the Bulldogs were able to score for the last time in the third quarter to take the lead and victory.

Magee finished with an 8-3 record. Magee had a great season even with the obstacles they overcame with quarantine students the first two weeks of season.

Tristen Newsome stepped up to the plate in the quarterback position and matured every week. Magee’s powerful defense held strong all year.

Coach Jones stated “I thought we played extremely hard. Enterprise is a very good team and we could not catch the break we needed to get in front. While it wasn’t the result we wanted, I am proud of the this team. They worked hard all year and did everything we asked. We had a great group of seniors who I know will take the lessons learned in football and be successful people in life. We have a lot of talented players coming back and the future is bright. We will go to work today at getting better because our goals are to win championships.”
