Trojans open season at home against Jefferson County Friday, August 23, 2019. Magee’s first game of the season was victorious by a score of 32-0.
A nice breeze was in the air creating a comfortable night of play.
A full, bright, colorful rainbow made an arch across Trojan Field.
Magee Fire Department was recognized for all their hard work and hours protecting our community.
The Magee Fire Department displayed a flag from the top of a ladder truck during the National Anthem.
Captains for the night were #62 Ryan Freshour #5 Janorris Newsome #3 Matthew Thurman, and #2 Chandler Pittman. The players chose Pamela Rogers as Teacher of the game and Co-Captain for the night.
Jefferson County won the toss and deferred the ball until the second half.
Magee’s defense did not allow any points to be scored on the night.
First quarter the Trojans dominated both sides of the ball. Magee received the ball and wasted no time finding the end zone. #2 Chandler Pittman plowed forwarded on a 9-yard touchdown run to cross the goal line first. The Trojans would score in three plays. The point after attempt by #19 Sam Riles was good for the Trojans. Magee led by a score of 7-0.
Flags flew on the night with penalties made by each team.
Trojans second possession would lead to a touchdown pass by #2 Chandler Pittman to #3 Matthew Thurman. The point after attempt by #19 Sam Rials was no good. Magee led by a score of 13-0.
With 2:48 remaining in the first quarter Pittman connected with a pass to Franks to add six more points the lead. The two-point conversion was no good. Magee led by a score of 19-0.
Second quarter #4 for the Trojans intercepted the ball on their own 33-yard line. With 1:35 left in the half Pittman of Magee punched the ball in the end zone scoring on a 3 yard run. The two point conversion was good and Magee increased their lead 27-0.
Magee High School Cheerleaders did a great job cheering on the Trojans to victory!
During halftime the 2019 South State 3A Baseball Champions were recognized on the field.
The Pride of Simpson County performed during halftime.
Third quarter #6 for Magee recovered a fumbled on the Jefferson County’s 40-yard line.
During the fourth quarter Rials kicked a 42-yard field goal. Trojans increased lead 30-0.
With :31 left in regulation Magee sealed the deal with a safety. Final score was 32-0.
Magee left the field confident after a win. The Trojans will celebrate the victory, but Monday all focus turns to the Simpson County Superbowl. Magee plays Mendenhall next Friday at Tiger Stadium. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
