Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 23, 2026, at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Mount Olive for Dixie Polk Duckworth, 96 of Mount Olive, who passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Reverend Nelson Crozier will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Mount Olive Cemetery.  Special music will be provided by Mrs. Debbie Cone.  Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mount Olive will be in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2026, and from 8:30 a.m.until 10;00 a.m. on Monday, March 23, 2026, at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 205 South 4th Street, Mount Olive, Mississippi, 39119.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons, Todd Duckworth, Brad Davis, Jacob Hardin, Wyatt Duckworth, Graham Davis, Will Duckworth, Josh Davis, and Jay Duckworth.

Mrs. Duckworth was born on June 16, 1929, in Mount Olive, Mississippi to Robert Eugene Polk and Hazel Brinson Polk.  She was a graduate of the Mount Olive High School Class of 1946.  Mrs. Duckworth earned a bachelor’s degree in music from Mississippi Southern College in 1950 and later returned to Mississippi Southern College and received a master’s degree in elementary education in 1965.  She taught music and elementary education for over fifty years in numerous school districts before her retirement.  Mrs. Duckworth was a member of the Baptist faith and a member of Mount Olive First Baptist Church.  She was a member of the Shadrack Rogers Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution in Collins. Mrs. Duckworth enjoyed working in her flowerbeds, sewing, and researching her family’s genealogy.  She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Eugene Polk and Hazel Brinson Polk; her husband, Winston E. Duckworth; one daughter and son-in-law, Janice Duckworth Daniel, and her husband, Paul; and three brothers, Will Polk, Eugene Polk, and Rex Polk.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda Duckworth Hardin, and her husband, Don of Mount Olive; two granddaughters, Allison Hardin Duckworth, and her husband, Todd, and Angela Hardin Davis, and her husband, Brad, all of Mount Olive; seven great-grandchildren, Jacob Hardin (Amy Beach), Wyatt Duckworth, Graham Davis, Will Duckworth, Josh Davis, Jay Duckworth, and Hadlee Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
