Saturday the Magee Trojans played the Ridgeland Titans in a close game and won 5-3. The theme of the day was Military Appreciation Day. Ridgeland would score two runs in the top of the 5th on costly errors by Magee’s defense. Magee would answer with two runs of their own in the bottom of the 5th when Zack Teater would reach base on an error and was followed by four walks allowed by Titans pitchers. In the top of the 6th Ridgeland would score another run after 3 hits and 3 stolen bases. Magee would score three runs in the bottom of the 6th when Landon Hayes would have a leadoff walk. Cayden Bridges would follow with a pinch hit single. Josh Sanders would pinch run for Hayes at second before Zack Teater would lay a bunt down third base to advance runner and after a wild throw Josh sanders would score. Chandler Pittman would follow suite and lay a bunt down of his own. Timon Kennedy would get the Sac fly to score the runner.
Luke West would get the win pitching 6 innings with 9 strikeouts and Seth Russell would get the save as he closed out the 7th.
Magee improves to 18-3 on the year and will face defending 3A State Champions, St. Andrews Saints for the district championship next Tuesday at St. Andrews and Friday at Magee. Game times are 4:30/6:30 JV/V.
