Magee Trojans loaded the buses and made the long trip to Tylertown to face the Chiefs in district play. A good fan support followed the Trojans to Tylertown. Magee won the district game by a score of 46-14. The Trojans move 5-0 on the year.

The Trojans struck first when #1 Cayden Bridges scored on a 5-yard rushing touchdown with four minutes left in the first quarter. Magee’s two-point conversion failed. Magee led by a score of 6-0.

With under a minute left in the first quarter, Magee’s #2 Chandler Pittman completed a pass to #1 Bridges to cross the goal line again.  The point after attempt was good by #35 Gavin Chapin. Magee increased their lead by a score of 13-0.

Magee’s offense was on fire scoring with eleven minutes left in the first half when #23 Jawon Shaw found the end zone on a rushing touchdown.  The two-point conversion failed. Magee lead by a score of 19-0.

With under a minute left in the half, #2 Pittman made contact with #7 Xavier Franks on a passing touchdown. The two-point conversion failed. Magee tallied more points to lead by a score of 25-0.

With under a minute left in the half, Magee’s # 11 Thomas Dyess would fall to an injury. Dyess was taken to a local hospital where he suffered a broken wrist requiring surgery.  Coach Teddy Dyess had a tough situation before him. Dyess watched his son leave injured while he remained and coached his team to victory.

Trojans ended the half with a lead of 25-0.

Third quarter, The Trojans remained explosive. Magee scored on a passing touchdown from #2 Pittman to #5 Jaylen Floyd. The point after attempt by #35 Gavin Chapin was good. Magee led by a score of 32-0.

Tylertown finally found the goal line scoring on a pass. The two-point conversion failed. Magee was on top by a score of 32-6.

Magee scored during the fourth quarter with four minutes remaining in the game on a completed pass. The point after attempt by Chapin was good. Magee led by a score of 39-6.

Tylertown responded scoring with two minutes left in the game on a touchdown pass. The two-point rush was completed to close the gap by a score of Magee 39, Tylertown 14.

Magee was not finished. The Trojans answered quickly scoring with minutes left in the game on a rushing touchdown by #10 Tristen Newsome. The point after attempt by Chapin was good. Magee sealed the win by a score of 46-14.

Coach Dyess stated “We had some guys step up and do big things in varsity action. We had great support from our cheerleaders and fans. We have an awesome group of kids. I can not tell you how proud I am of them. I’m talking on and off the field.”

Next up for the Trojans is Jefferson Davis County as they come to Trojan field for a 3A Region 8 contest. The Jaguars are coming off a 40-14 victory over Seminary with a 3-3 overall record. Friday will be Senior night for the Trojans.
