Magee’s game against Velma Jackson had everyone on their feet! The energy was electric and both teams played showed up to win.

The Trojans won the coin toss and received the ball. With 1:03 seconds left in the first quarter, Javo Thurman, #3 for the Trojans, scored a touchdown, kicking the game off and putting the first points on the board!  The score was 0-7 in Magee’s favor.

The second quarter was in Magee’s favor as well.  With 5:45 seconds left, Ross McInnis ran a 45 yard touchdown bringing the score to 0-14. With 4:13 seconds left, Velma Jackson scored to bring the score to 7-14. Velma Jackson would score another touchdown only to be declined due to two penalties ending the first half with a score of 7-14 in Magee’s favor.

The third quarter saw intense action as Trojans and Falcons would battle back and forth for the lead. Early in the third quarter, Velma Jackson scored a touchdown and 2 point conversion to bring the score to 15-14. With 4: 28 seconds left, Trojan Sam Rials kicks a 29 yard field goal to bring the score to 15-17 in Magee’s favor.

The next plays of the third quarter result in a back and forth toss up starting with Velma Jackson fumbling the ball and Magee recovering. Magee would throw a pass only for Velma Jackson to intercept. Velma Jackson fumbles again; Magee recovers again. This time the fumble recover by Chase Rankin, #5 Trojan, resulted in a 20 yard touchdown by Rankin. The extra point was good to bring the score to 15-24 in Magee’s favor. With 2: 21 seconds left in the third quarter, Velma Jackson threw a 40 yard touchdown pass. The kick was no good  bringing the score to 21-24, still in Magee’s favor.

The fourth quarter both teams tried to put more points on the board. With 7:33 seconds left, Velma Jackson threw a 38 yard touchdown pass. Their extra point kick was good making the score 28-24 in the Falcons favor.

On behalf of Magee High School, I would like to thank the fans for achieving the wave! The stands were packed and the spirit wave was amazing. We may not have won, but the atmosphere of the game was still amazingly positive and fun!

Magee High School would also like to invite everyone out next Friday, October 5th, as MHS hosts Homecoming at Trojan Field against Raleigh. The Homecoming Parade will be Thursday, October 4th at 5:00 pm. The parade will line up on Choctaw Street in front of the high school and will end at Priority One Bank with the Homecoming Pep Rally. (There will not be a Homecoming Pep Rally at school on Friday.)  Homecoming ceremonies and crowning of the new Homecoming Queen will be during halftime of the game.
