Trojans Advance to Second Round of Playoff’s with a win over Hazlehurst Friday, November 2, 2018 at Trojan Field.
Captains for the night’s game were 4-Chase Rankin, 5- Ross Mcinnis, 68 – Jordan Magee, and 75 – Rashun Bryant. Magee won the toss and chose to receive the ball-opening kickoff.
Magee started the game with a 30-yard pass. The Trojans took only 6 plays to find the end zone on a 8 yard touchdown pass. The Point After Attempt was good and Trojans were on the board quickly by a score of 7-0.
Magee had an excellent defensive series with Hazlehurst going 3 and out on downs. Magee blocked Hazlehurst’s punt and recovered the ball on the Hazlehurst 12-yard line. On the first play, #5 scored on a 12-yard touchdown run. PAT was good. Trojans increase their lead by a score of 14-0.
Magee defense continue to apply pressure and caused another 3 and out series for Hazlehurst. On fourth down, Hazlehurst was prepared to punt when the center snapped a high ball over the punters head that went out of the back end zone for a safety. Magee score increased to 16-0.
#17 – Terrell Thornton took the kickoff and returned the ball to the Hazlehurst’s 10-yard line. Magee would go for the touchdown on 4th and goal from the 8-yard line only to be stopped at the one-yard line. Hazlehurst took over on downs. Again, Magee’s defense stopped the Hazlehurst offensive and cause the Indians to punt. #2 Chandler Pittman, for Magee ran the punt back for a touchdown. PAT was good. Trojans were on top 23-0. Next offensive possession for the Trojans resulted in a fumble and Hazlehurst returned the ball to Magee’s 8-yard line. Hazlehurst scored on 4th and one. The two-point conversion was no good. Magee led by a score of 23-6. Trojans had a promising drive but resulted in an interception. Next play, Hazlehurst scored on a 95-yard touchdown pass. The two-point conversation was no good Trojans still on top 23-12. Magee continued to have trouble with keeping possession of the ball with another turnover on a interception. The Trojans stopped Hazlehurst and scored on the next offensive possession on a 22-yard run by #5, Ross McInnis. PAT was good Trojans increase lead by a score of 30-12. #17 Thornton for Magee intercepted a pass by Hazlehurst on the Indians 15-yard line to score. Point after attempt was good. Trojans led by a score 37-12. #44 – Cameron Sullivan, for Magee recovered a kick off fumble on Hazlehurst 37-yard line. #1- Josh Sanders scored on a awesome one hand snag in the air for a 37-yard touchdown reception. Hazlehurst answered with a 2-point conversion. Two-point conversion was no good. Magee 44, Hazlehurst 18.
Magee attempted a 42-yard field goal that was no good. Magee found the end zone one last time on the night when #2, Pittman, scored on a 5-yard touchdown run. PAT was no good and Magee led by a score of 50-18. Hazlehurst answered quickly on a 85-yard kick off return. Two-point conversion was no good and Trojans on top 50-24.
#17 Thornton for Magee sealed the win by stopping Hazlehurst on a drive by intercepting the ball in the end zone.
The win advances Magee to the second round of the playoffs.
Magee will travel to Winona, Friday, November 9, 2018. Game time is 7:00 pm.
