Jackson, MS.  Treasurer Lynn Fitch announced today the 2017 College Savings Mississippi Savings Shootout, which will take place during the MHSAA State Basketball Championships on March 9, 10, and 11 at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson, Mississippi.

“I am pleased to announce this opportunity for Mississippi residents attending the finals for the MHSAA State Basketball Championships later this week,” said Treasurer Lynn Fitch, chair of the College Savings Mississippi Board of Directors.  “We will be awarding more than $6300 in scholarships for the Mississippi Affordable College Savings (MACS) program.  With the average Mississippi student loan debt over $26,000, one of these scholarships can make a real difference in a student’s future.”

College Savings Mississippi will hold a free throw contest between two contestants during half time at each of the twelve games of the championships.  The winner of each contest will be awarded a $529 MACS scholarship.
