LynnFitchState Treasurer Lynn Fitch and College Savings Mississippi announce open enrollment for the Mississippi Prepaid Affordable College Tuition Plan (MPACT) starting tomorrow, September 1, 2015. MPACT is Mississippi’s prepaid tuition plan that prepays the cost of tuition and mandatory fees, and protects against the future rise in college tuition. MPACT offers tuition plans for universities, community colleges or a combination of the two. MPACT also offers flexible payment plans including lump sum, annual payments, monthly payments, or a partial down payment followed by monthly or annual payments. The flexibility in payment options makes MPACT affordable for all Mississippians. The enrollment period is open from September 1 through May 31, 2016.
“Statistics show that a child is seven times more likely to go to college if a parent or guardian has set aside money for that child’s future,” said Treasurer Fitch. “Prepaying college tuition can save significant dollars by the time your child enrolls in college. But MPACT does more than just save your family money. MPACT gives you the peace of mind that comes from knowing your child’s college tuition can be paid in full before he or she attends the first class. We want to continue to encourage families to invest in the future with College Savings Mississippi.”
