State Treasurer Lynn Fitch and College Savings Mississippi are pleased to announce a partnership with Jackson State University (JSU) to promote the Mississippi Affordable College Savings Plan (MACS) through payroll deduction.

“I am thrilled to have JSU on board,” said Treasurer Fitch. “By offering MACS participation through payroll deduction, they are helping their employees save for their families’ future. I hope that other Mississippi colleges and universities follow JSU’s lead and offer college savings opportunities like this one.”

JSU is the first public university to join the Office of the State Treasurer and College Savings Mississippi in offering payroll deduction. Employees now have the opportunity to contribute to MACS accounts directly from their paychecks.

“JSU is also excited to partner with Treasurer Fitch and College Savings Mississippi. It is a privilege to be the first public university participating in the Mississippi Affordable College Savings Plan. The advantages of this program are invaluable, and we hope that others will seize the opportunity to make saving for college more practical for their employees,” said Jackson State University President Carolyn W. Meyers.

“No one understands the value of an education like our state’s educators, and I am thankful for JSU’s support in our efforts to engage families across Mississippi in the important task of saving for college,” continued Treasurer Fitch.

College Savings Mississippi is a division of the State Treasurer’s Office and operates the two state-sponsored 529 college savings plans, MACS and MPACT.
