Monday, June 13, 2016, at approximately 7pm a female child was backed over by a car driven by her mother according to news reports.  Mother, Maria Carr, hit her 7 year old daughter, Mariyah Camper, after the child ran behind the vehicle according to Simpson County Coroner, Terry Tutor.  Accident occured on Scarborough Road in Harrisville.

Mariyah was taken to UMMC where she was pronounced dead at 8:28pm Monday night.  Sheriff O’Cain said the sheriff’s department is investigating, but it appears to have been a tragic accident.

Mariyah would have been a second grade student in the fall at Simpson Central School.
