On April 6, 2018, at approximately 1800 hours Simpson County Sheriff’s office deputies Adam Scarborough and Deputy Matthew Stewart made a stop on a Chevrolet Pickup on Nub McNair Road, for not using a turn signal. Deputy ran the tag on the Chevrolet Pickup through dispatch, tag number EEG 318 from South Carolina. The tag returned as a 2000 Buick Sedan. Deputies made contact with the driver, Tommy Earl Kemp and was advised through dispatch that his license was suspended. Deputies recovered a glass pipe in Kemp’s left front pocket. Deputies also made contact with the passenger Kayla Maria Putnum. Deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and recovered a plastic bag under the center console that contained approximately 90 grams of methamphetamine. Deputies also recovered 16 oxycodone pills, 7 tramadol and 2 hydrocodone pills. Deputies transported Kemp and Putnam to the Simpson County Adult Detention Center.
