Timothy Devon Lanphere, age 60, died in his sleep at home on April 4, 2017. He was born March 28, 1957, in North Carolina and grew up in Monticello and Yazoo City, MS. He studied architecture at the University of Southern Mississippi, and had recently joined ERA Real Estatein Ridgeland, where he made many new friends.

Tim was an avid football fan and especially loved USM football. Every year, he had a Super Bowl party with an enormous spread of food, but no guests, so that he could just watch the game. He loved living near the water, fishing for crappie, and spending time on the pier at Roses Bluff and at Lake Lack in Smith County. Tim was warm, gregarious, loving, and funny. He was an animal- and children-whisperer, and he never met a stranger. People loved him, and that made him happy.

Tim is survived by his wife of 22 years, Lyn Pruitt Lanphere; his brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Debbie Lanphere; and his sister and brother-in-law, Cindy and Bill Loftin, as well as four nieces and four nephews he dearly loved. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Lanphere and Mary Carol Shepherd.

A celebration of Tim’s life will be held on Friday, April 7, at 102 Duck Cove in Madison, with a memorial service on the Roses Bluff pier at 6 p.m. Friends and family are invited to visit at home before and after attending the service.
