For fifty years, the capsule buried on the Simpson County Courthouse grounds has been a topic of conservation. What’s gonna be in the capsule? Did my family leave anything? Will everything be preserved? Are we burying another one?
Many of these questions will be answered Thursday, July 4, 2024 on the grounds of the Simpson County Courthouse. The capsule will be opened at 9:00 AM. The drawing for the official Simpson County Bicentennial Christmas ornaments and auction will follow the capsule opening.
Suzanne Magee, daughter of the late James Robert and Sarah Magee, is eagerly awaiting the opening. Suzanne knows she has a letter from her mother in the capsule and can’t wait.
Personally, I can’t remember if I buried anything! My oldest son Dickey was only 6 months old!…I think I was pretty crazy during that time! Ha
I can’t wait to see what people buried! Come and join the fun!
The City of Magee will host a fireworks show at the Jimmy Clyde Sportsplex Thursday night beginning around 9 PM. This is a free event
