Simpson County Supervisors met Monday, December 5, 2022. First order of business was opening bids for scrap metal. No bids were received.

Gena Sullivan, Temporary Chancery Clerk, submitted for the minutes and approving authorizing to pay the Chancery Clerk for making copies of  Assessments rolls of Simpson  County.  The board acknowledged  the certification of attendance for Justice Court Judge, Charles Savell, for attending 2022 Justice Court Judges Fall Virtual Conference.  The information was recorded in the minutes.

Road Manager Ben Warren advised hot mix project will continue as long as weather holds. This project is a day to day decision.

Buddy Wolverton, County Engineer, reported the status of State-Aid & LSSBP as of November 30, 2022

Sheriff Paul Mullins submitted the following invoice  for approval.

The following HR report was approved for the Sheriff’s Department.

Tax Accessor Jamie Brewer submitted the tag list for November and changes to the real and personal property rolls.

A swearing in ceremony will be held Friday, December 9, 2022 3:00 p.m. at the Court House for newly elected Chancery Clerk Tim Gray.  The public is invited.

The board appointed Joseph Sims as special council in the State of Mississippi vs Dale Berry.  Wendell James was appointed to the position earlier following the recusal of County Prosecuting Attorney Wesley Broadhead.  Mr. James recused himself opening the door for the appointment of Sims.

Approval was granted in opening new bank accounts in the County Treasury, Peoples Bank, for Chancery Clerk Tim Gray.
