Tigers Steamrolled the Trojans

Before a large crowd the 94th Simpson County Super Bowl was held on Tiger field September 1, 2017.

Mendenhall players seemed pumped and determined. The young Trojans were not able to capitalize the way they would like.

Captains for the night’s game were #1 Jadan Chatman, #20 Chase Rankin, and #73 Mac Anderson for Magee, and #56 Jermaine Feazell, #1 Jordan Willis, and #3 Ladarian Newsome. for Mendenhall. Mendenhall won the toss and chose to receive the ball for opening kickoff.

Magee would draw a penalty on the opening kickoff for an off side call. Magee would re-kick and Mendenhall would get the ball on their own 45-yard line. The Tigers would not take long to score on a 49-yard pass with 10:58 remaining on the clock in the first quarter. PAT was good and Mendenhall would lead 7-0 and never look back. Magee would receive the ball and make a promising drive down field only to fumble the ball. Mendenhall would capitalize on the turnover and cross the goal line one more time. PAT was good. Mendenhall took a 14-0 lead. With three minutes left in first quarter, #2, Chandler Pittman, Quarterback for the Trojans, would take a hit from the tiger’s dropping him to the ground along with a referee. Pittman would leave the field on an injury.

Second quarter Mendenhall would get the ball once again and score with 9:58 left before half. PAT was good and Tigers would lead 21-0. #2, Chandler Pittman, would re-enter the game as quarterback for Magee. Tigers would go into halftime with a lead over the Trojans 21-0.

With 9:06 left in third quarter, Trojans would find the end zone on a 10-yard reverse by #22 Winn. The 2-point conversion was no good. Tigers still lead by a score of 21-6. Mendenhall would answer quickly on a kickoff return. PAT was good and Mendenhall increased the lead 28-6.

Magee would score on last time on a 56-yard touchdown run. The two-point conversion was no good. Tigers would lead 24-12. Mendenhall would answer again on a 33-yard touch down pass. Mendenhall leads by a score of 34-12. Mendenhall would add more points to the scoreboard before the game would end. Final score was Mendenhall 41, Magee 12.

Tigers were award the trophy and bragging rights for another year.
