Magee won the toss and deferred to the second half. Penalties and turnovers still seem to haunt the Trojans!
Collins had a promising drive on their first possession but threw an interception in end zone.
On Magee’s first possession they would fake punt on a 4th and ten deep in their territory and did not make it. Tigers would take over and two plays later fumbled and Magee recovered on their own 15-yard line. Magee had a great pass and after a 5 yard gain had the ball stripped on 35-yard line of Collins. Next play Collins threw an interception and Magee took over on Magee’s 33-yard line.
To start the 2nd quarter Magee had a good drive but turned it over on downs. With 7:16 left in the half Collins scored on a 3-yard run. Point after attempt was good and Collins led by a score of 7-0. Magee would answer quickly. 4:44 on clock Magee scored on a 3-yard run. Two-point conversion was good and Magee led by a score of 8-7. Collins would find the end zone again before halftime. With 1:18 left in the first half Collins scored on a 77-yard touchdown. The point after attempt was blocked. Tiger were up 13-8. Magee would not give up. With 4 seconds left in half Magee’s Rials attempted a 29-yard field goal that was good. Tigers would head into halftime with a lead 13-11.
Third quarter Magee had a 53-yard kickoff return to Collins 27-yard line. After four plays Magee would turn the ball over. Magee was able to defend the Tigers and get the ball back. Magee went for the first down on 4th and 5 from Collins 45-yard line and failed. Magee would draw a holding penalty on a pass. Next play Collins would be dropped for a loss and Tigers would be penalized. Magee declined the penalty to end the third quarter.
Excitement would take place in final quarter. Tigers were 2nd and 21 to start the fourth. Tigers were penalized 5 yards for an illegal substitute to make it 3rd and 26. Chase Rankin for Magee would stop the Tigers and force a punt. A 5-yard facemask penalty was called on Tigers to give the Trojans a 1st down on the 49-yard line. Next play Pittman carried ball for another 1st down at the Tigers 36-yard line. A controversial call goes Magee way! What looked to be an intersection by Collins would result in Magee’s quarter back being called down to stop play. Next play Tigers were penalized for pass interference on their 20-yard line. Magee kicker Rials would attempt a 39-yard field goal to take a one-point lead. Kick was up and just short by about three-yards. Tigers take over and completed a pass to the sideline and run to the Trojans end zone. Tigers increase their lead 20-11. Sanders would return kick off to the 50-yard line. Tigers would draw back-to-back penalties for false start and off sides. Just when Magee thought things were going their way they would fumble ball and Tigers would recover. On a 3rd and 30 from the 18-yard line Collins took a pass in the flat and ran 82-yards for a touchdown. Point after attempt was no good on a bad snap. Tigers led by a score of 26-11. On a 30-yard pass to Josh Sanders with 3:07 left in game Magee would score. The point after attempt was good Tigers led by a score of 26-18.
With 2:30 left in the game Collins took the ball on their own 25-yard line and out raced the Magee defense again to score. Tigers increased their lead 33-18. With 49 seconds left in game, #5 Ross McInnis had a 55-yard touch down run. McInnis broke several tackles on his way to the end zone. The point after attempt was good.
Magee tried an onside kick again, but they had the ball taken away from them. Game would end with the Trojans suffering a loss by a score of 33-25.
