Neighbors and Friends of District 3 Simpson County:

As most of you know by now I am a candidate for school board district 3 in the upcoming election on November 5. You have probably seen my yard signs, posts on Simpson Community News, and ads in the local Papers. I have visited with many of you personally and on the phone, and I hope to visit with more of you.

MDOT urges public to stay weather aware as Tropical Storm Arthur tracks toward state

For those of you who do not know me, I am a lifelong citizen of Simpson County. I have lived here all of my 71 years except from 1988-1992 when I lived in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana and Morgan County, Tennessee when I was serving churches in those areas. I am a seventh generation Simpson Countian. My parents were Roy Thomas Floyd and Lina Sue Shows Floyd, both of whom are now with the Lord. I grew up in the Martinville area, and still live here at 278 Good Hope Road. I am married to Dr Brenda Gale Floyd, formerly of Cherokee County, Oklahoma. I have five living children and sixteen grandchildren, and two preborn great-grandchildren.

I started out as a labourer in the construction industry in 1970, and worked my way up through the ranks as apprentice, journeyman, and foreman. In 1993 I started my own company, Thomas R Floyd, Mason Contractor, Inc. We grew to a medium size company employing an average of about  thirty people. In 2015 I went to work with Yates Construction as a Project Executive. I am presently serving Structural Waterproofing and Restoration as an estimator and project manager. My expertise includes estimating, developing, and managing multi-million dollar budgets. I have extensive experience in school construction, and am presently helping manage a $140,000,000 school for the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians.

For several years I served on the board for the Mississippi Construction Education Foundation. During that time I helped manage the annual skills competition for the Vo-tech programs in Mississippi. I have been an NCCER certified instructor.

I am running for school board because I love Simpson County and our people. I want to see our public schools provide a quality education for our young ones in public schools. I also want our school district to be financially responsible.

I humbly ask for your prayers and your vote.

Thomas R Floyd

“As  your school board member, I promise to make your young ones my priority. I promise to work for their safety and peace, and to do all within my ability and power to provide an environment conducive to their learning. I promise to do all within my power  to insure they are afforded every opportunity to advance academically, and/or vocationally. Your children are God’s special gift(s) to you and no one loves then like you do. The schools can never take your place as parents, but I can and will keep  foremost in my mind that they are, after all, your children. I do not claim to love your children in the same way as I do my own children and grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, but nevertheless I do   love them as the children of my kinfolks and neighbours and friends and constituents.”

This is a paid political announcement
