Theater Students Participating in Symphony Orchestra Performance March 31

The University of Southern Mississippi Symphony Orchestra concert on March 31 headlined by two of the world’s premier flutists, Sir James and Lady Jeanne Galway, will also feature three acting students from the Department of Theater. They will join the orchestra on the first half of the concert by reading lines from Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.
In 1935, Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev wrote the music for a ballet on the same subject and the orchestra will perform a musical suite from that stage work. Judyth Daley, Brandon Campbell, and Taylor Hames will join the orchestra by reading lines from the Bard’s play in between movements of the suite.

Brandon Campbell is a BFA senior from Long Beach, Miss. and is delighted to be a part of this production. His roles in Southern Miss Theater productions include “Charles” in The School For Scandal, “Baz” in A Bright Room Called Day, “Ferdinand” in The Tempest, “Tristram” in Taking Steps, “Toad” in The Wind in the Willows, “Maximillion/Peter” in By the Way, Meet Vera Stark, and most recently seen as “Cornelius” in The Matchmaker.

Taylor Raymond Hanes is a first year MFA Theater Performance candidate from Las Vegas. He recently appeared as “Horace Vandergelder” in The Matchmaker and as “Duke Senior” in As You like It, both recent performances at Southern Miss. He has also appeared regionally in New York, San Francisco, and Seattle, as well as Las Vegas, where he has appeared in more than two dozen productions with the Nevada Conservatory Theater as a guest artist. Taylor was awarded Best of Las Vegas Fringe Festival in 2010 and 2013. In 2014, he was named Best Actor by the Las Vegas Valley Theater Awards.
