“The Storm Is Coming”
Several weeks ago, Eugene and I were eating at the Outback restaurant in Hattiesburg. It was crowded but we were soon seated and ordered our usual. As is my custom, I glanced around at the other diners and spoke if someone made eye contact. A very elegantly dressed African American lady was seated alone near us and I smiled and spoke. When our food came, we said grace and began to eat. The well -dressed lady had finished her meal and stopped at our table. These were her words: “I noticed that you two are a praying people. God has revealed to me that the storm is coming and we need to be prayed up!” She ask us to continue to pray.
What storm? When? Do any of you have any idea what she meant? I thanked her and agreed that we had many storms on the horizon and we would certainly continue to pray for our country. As I have pondered and thought about those words, I am not sure what form the storm will take. I haven’t shared this with anyone until recently because I’m not sure what it means. But as I study God’s word, He promised us that the storms of life would surely come! Are the storms in the racial unrest we see? Are they in the unprecedented, volatile Election season we are experiencing?? Are the storms coming as spiritual warfare? Are the storms real weather storms that destroy our homes and our peace and make us appreciate the important things in life? Are the storms catastrophic illness or accidents? We have prayed for a spiritual revival and for spiritual awakening. Is this the beginning of the awakening? I am sorry that I have many more questions than I have answers! But I know “The Master of the Wind”; I know I am “Sheltered in the Arms of God”; and I will “Praise Him in the Storm” “‘Till the Storm Passes By”!
Isaiah 59:1
“Behold, the Lord’s hand is not so short that it cannot save; nor is His ear so dull that it cannot hear.”
Psalm 37:25
“I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.”
