A new Ohio State University study looks closely at the relationship between families who ate home-cooked meals together and excess weight gain. While it’s been known that eating meals cooked at home is healthier than eating out, researchers found that watching TV during home meals had an even greater effect on future weight gain. Families who ate at home, regardless of how often, had significantly lower odds of obesity if they never watched TV during meals, even compared to families who ate home-cooked meals every day, but with the TV on.
