Before the lights turn on, the decorations go up or most of the presents are wrapped, children at First Baptist Magee have already experienced the most wonderful time of the year. On Wednesday, November 15 children and their leaders gathered to pack shoebox gifts for Operation Christmas Child a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse. The children look forward to this night with great anticipation.

For weeks before the actual packing they prepare items to be included in the boxes such as school supply kits, first aid kits, simple games, and personal cards. They also have an opportunity to see video messages of boys and girls who have received shoebox gifts and the impact these gifts have made on their lives. This helps get the children excited about how they can serve others.
This year the children packed 100 shoeboxes on Wednesday night. There were another 95 donated by other church members and Sunday School groups of the church.
