While spending some quality time with my almost 6 year old grandson, Hudson and I decided to check out the MS Ag Museum.  Hayes Patrick is a friend of mine.  I had been watching all the things he was doing at the museum…he’s in charge of the museum.

Hudson and I arrived on a beautiful Monday…not to hot and not to cold.  For a long time, we were the only guest!  Personally, I kind of liked the unclose and personal attention.

The train takes visitors for a tour of the grounds of the Ag Museum.

Happy Birthday to a Special Lady—Diane McPhail

Hudson immediately spotted the train!  He loves trains.  The ladies where we purchases our tickets ($4 each) assured Hudson he would get a ride on the train at 1 o’clock.

In the lobby of the museum was a display of baby chicks under a heat lamp.  He stayed glued looking at those chicken for quite awhile.

Hudson took off through some doors I thought went to a ware house!  Boy, was I in for a shock.  Through those doors was the actual in house museum….filled with trains, planes, boats, gins, the list goes on and on.  The museum is truly a wonderland not only for the young but the old!  I enjoyed every exhibit as did Hudson.  Of course, Hudson’s favorite exhibit was the trains.  He was allowed to push a button and start the trains.  A train club in the Jackson area maintains the trains and set up the exhibit.  Awesome!!!

The conductor took us on a tour of the grounds.

Once it was one o’clock, we headed out to the riding train.  We were the only two people on the train but got a great tour of all the buildings and activities on the grounds.  Once “back at the station,” Hudson and I headed back into the village to enjoy everything up close.  The petting zoo was one of his favorite stops.  We saw two pigs we named Jeff and John!  Sheep, cows, chickens, and  horses kept us busy for quite awhile.  The Country Store was very unique.  I felt as if I was going back in time.  So many items displayed in the store we had in our store years ago.  Horn Brothers began in 1926…and closed in about 1986 under the name Dickey’s.

Many  places throughout the grounds are picture taking perfect!  Hudson soon grew tired of my constant request for pictures.

no shortage of places to take pictures!

Hayes Patrick met us in what I would call the “rose garden.”  Hayes is passionate about the Ag Museum.  He has great plans for the future and is doing a fabulous job!

Seriously, the Ag museum needs to be a day trip for your family.  Hudson is already planning a trip back to show his mama and daddy!
