Patrice and I decided to play hooky about a week ago and check out the Lucky Rabbit located in Hattiesburg.
I’ve seen postings on FB for several years about the Lucky Rabbit in Laurel and Hattiesburg. We decided we would see what all the hype was about!
Located in downtown Hattiesburg at 217 Mobile Street in an old building, the Lucky Rabbit was much larger than I expected! The building had great outside decorations with old cars, old vending machines, and old toys. I guess the word I am emphasizing is Old!!! I loved everything I
The building is composed of numerous sections where vendors display their wares. The decorations at each booth were unique and quite interesting. I think what blew me away were the antiques…I realized after a few minutes in the store that everything I have is an antique. There was a set of yellow glasses….yes, I’ve got them stored somewhere. There were old doors and windows…yes, I’ve got them at the barn. There were dishes displayed as antiques that I still use everyday. There was a big yellow bowl I prepare corn pudding in every year for Thanksgiving! Yes, I soon realized I was old and owned old stuff!
The history within the walls is worth the trip. We saw several Magee folks making their rounds with arms full of priceless fines.
One of my favorite areas was the “Christmas Vacation” living room and outside the station wagon. I couldn’t miss an opportunity for a photo op with “Cousin Eddie!”
The Lucky Rabbit is a great day trip. Just check their FB page for hours. They are not open all the time!
