With a sad heart, I received the news from Jimmy Clyde that he would not seek another term as the Mayor of Magee! I can’t imagine Magee without Jimmy as Mayor. He has been the Mayor for 20 years! I know the decision was extremely hard for Jimmy…not one made lightly. He has prayed for months and months about this decision.
Of course, I hate it because I think no one loves Magee more than Jimmy…nor has worked harder for Magee than Jimmy.
His decision will not affect his dedication to our city.
Life is hard when you realize maybe your time is up in a job you have given your life to…42 years. Life is hard when you realize…you’re not as young as you used to be…Life is hard when you realize the time has come.
I understand and appreciate where Jimmy is coming from. Mayor is a 24/7 job 365 days…vacation…what vacation…there is no “not being available” in Jimmy’s book.
Thank you, Jimmy, for your love and dedication to our city and all the employees and citizens. You are loved…you are appreciated…and you are a man of substance. Thank you for giving 42 years to our city.
