“Ride the Block,” a past tradition in the downtown area of Magee, will kick-off in the Spring. According to Mayor Dale Berry, “Ride the Block” will begin the first Friday night in March, March 2, 2018. “It starts when people get there,” said Mayor Berry, “ but ends at 11:00 PM. Berry also reported that Police Chief Randy Crawford said his department could handle the block!

“Ride the Block” will be held the first Friday night of March, April, May & June.
Plans are to have a band playing at the Community House and the Chick-fil-A food tent on site.

Mayor Berry plans to incorporate a chili burger cook off attempting to see if anyone can cook a chili burger as good as the Triangle Cafe did years ago! (This will be difficult because some people don’t remember the Triangle Cafe which was located at the beginning of Main Street where a check cashing business is now located. But, we are all about cooking so this should be fun!)

If you are not familiar with “Ride the Block,” this activity took place on the weekend in downtown Magee in the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s where people from all over the state descended on Main Street Magee and rode the block (where the library is located)..over and over. You could meet people from “all over!” A few “Ride the Block” reunions have been held in the past. The Spring “Ride the Block” should be a great boost for Magee’s economy.

If your band is interested in playing one of the Friday nights, contact the Mayor.

If anyone has any information about ridding the block they would like to share, contact Sue@mageenews
