Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday…… The Alpha of the holiday season. I love Thanksgiving because it lays the foundation of the holidays and events to follow until Easter.

Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on the year and years passed, things that have been important is our lives, and what we have gained or lost.

To a child Thanksgiving usually is a day of food, parades, and a break from school. I always like to see what input young people have about Thanksgiving.  I was able to catch up with a couple of teenagers, this is what they had to write…..

DSC_0075Tamiuah Shelby, of Magee High School, had this to write about Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving is a time you are suppose to spend with your family. It is a time you should let each other know why you are thankful for each other. During Thanksgiving, we celebrate each other by cooking and sharing joy with one another. We should embrace each other and spend time loving on one another; after all, it is about love and joy.

DSC_0073Louis Schaaf, Magee High School, also added what he thought the meaning of Thanksgiving was to him as well.

Thanksgiving means to be grateful for what yo have gained in life ad for the people you have met and befriended. It is also a time to celebrate accomplishments everyone has made. During this time, we should embrace each other and let each other know how much we love them.

DSC_0339Michael Allen, senior at Magee High School wrote his opinion of Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving is a time to spend with family and firends. A time to give thanks to God and celebrate the blessings of our life and enjoy all the food! One of the special things about this day is just sitting around talking and laughing with family., that is what it is all about.
