Ted Wayne Herrington, born June 8, 1939, in Magee, MS, passed away on September 24, 2023, at South Central Regional Medical in Laurel, MS.
Ted was loved and was known by everyone as Cheese. He never met a stranger, always had time for everyone, and never failed to let the ones he loved know exactly how much. Cheese was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting and anything to do with flowers. But one of his greatest joys was sharing that passion with his kids, grandkids, and especially his wife. Linda was never far from his side, whether it be in a boat, in the woods, or just sitting on the porch planting flowers. In the end, it’s not the years of your life that count, but it’s the life in your years, and the years were full!
He is preceded in death by his parents, Willis Burnice and Willie Frances Purser Herrington; brothers, Herbert Herrington, Cecil Herrington, and Kelly Herrington.
Ted is survived by his wife, Linda Bridges Herrington; daughters, Dolores Ponder (Mark) and Frances Tworkowsky; sons, Wayne Herrington, Wesley Herrington (Rhonda), Greg Hinton (Christy); fourteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at Siloam Baptist Church in Magee, MS, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The service will begin at noon with Bro. Gary Roberts officiating. The interment will follow in Siloam Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Bryce Herrington, Cannon Hinton, Clayton Hinton, Brinson Ponder, Nathan Ponder, and Tucker Varnes. Honorary pallbearer is Tyler Varnes.
Arrangements are entrusted with Tutor Funeral Home of Magee.
