Simpson County Technical Center is featuring its Law and Public Safety Program. This program focuses on the history of law and legal systems. Students learn the importance of personal health and safety in the work environments associated with law and public safety. Students are introduced to the emergency services found in local communities. Additionally, students focus on corrections in the state of Mississippi, studying specifically how jails and prisons function.

Students learn the specialized areas and topics within the law and public safety arena by examining the daily tasks and responsibilities of the professional in the field. Also, students are offered the opportunity to examine all areas of the military and the professions associated with each branch. Students in the law and Public Safety Program have the option of joining SkillsUSA, the student organization for students enrolled in this program. Jesse Gonzales, program instructor, is the SkillsUSA advisor for this area. Pictured is Mr. Gonzales with second year law students during a class lecture.
