On Wednesday, April 11, Lieutenant Governor Tate Reeves stopped by Zips in Magee for lunch. In a roundtable discussion, Reeves discussed a variety of issues, but spoke mainly on the importance of economic development. One of the issues raised by a concerned citizen was industry and how our area is lacking in that department. Reeves discussed the successes of other companies that have invested in Mississippi and would go on to further expand their operations here. Reeves, who is completing his second term as Lieutenant Governor, is running for Governor and faces former Chief Supreme Court Justice Bill Waller and Representative Robert Foster in a Republican Primary. One of the three Republicans will face a Democratic opponent in the November in the general election to decide which party will control Mississippi’s highest office.
