The “streets” of Magee are going wild with talk of improper absentee voting in Simpson County.
According to the “talk”, a van full of trustees were taken to the circuit clerk’s office on Friday, July 31, to vote by absentee ballot.
Well, I’m telling y’all it “ain’t” so.
I have spoken with the circuit clerk’s office, and according to circuit clerk personnel only registered voters were allowed to vote.
Seven inmates requested permission from Lt. James Ingles to vote absentee. Sheriff Lewis approved the request, and the inmates were transported by van to circuit clerk’s office. Four of the seven inmates had proper ID, name in the book (registered voters) and were non-felons, and were allowed to vote.
Three got a ride in the van.
