With profound sadness and hearts full of love, we announce the passing of Synthia Dianne Hylender, who peacefully departed this life on June 26, 2026 at the age of 67.
Born on January 6, 1959 in Mississippi, Dianne lived a life defined by unwavering love, strength, kindness, and faith. She had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcomed, valued, and loved. Whether through a warm embrace, an encouraging word, or a selfless act of service, she left an unforgettable mark on every life she touched.
To know Dianne was to know unconditional love. She devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family, finding her greatest joy in being a wife, mother, Shorty (grandmother), sister, and friend.
Her home was a place of comfort and laughter, where family gathered, traditions were made, and countless cherished memories were created. She taught those around her the importance of compassion, resilience, generosity, and unwavering faith.
She found happiness in life’s simple blessings— her roses, cooking, cha-chinging (going to the casino), her grandbabies, and spending time with her family. No matter where she was, her gentle spirit, beautiful smile, and caring heart brought peace and comfort to those fortunate enough to know her.
Throughout her life, Dianne was a dedicated and hardworking woman who took great pride in her career. She faithfully served Piggly Wiggly for 32 years where she earned the admiration and respect of her coworkers through her integrity, compassion, and unwavering work ethic. She approached her profession with the same kindness and dedication that she gave to her family, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of working alongside her.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 42 years, Timmy; her loving son, Chad Holbrook (Lauren); nephew/son, Jeffery (Gabbi); her treasured grandchildren, Riggins, Case, Cole, Nola, and Sutton; her sister, Jackie Runnels Thompson; her brother-in-law’s, Ricky (Betty) Hylender, Craig Hylender, David (Joyce) Hylender; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Barney Runnels, Jr. and Ora Nell Wallace; brothers, Gerald Jeffery Runnels and Robert (Danny) Daniel Runnels; and brother-in-law, Joe Thompson, who undoubtedly welcomed her home with open arms.
Although our hearts are broken by her absence, we find comfort knowing that her love lives on through each person she nurtured, every lesson she taught, and the countless lives she touched.
Her legacy is not measured simply by the years she lived, but by the immeasurable love she gave so freely. Her memory will continue to guide us, inspire us, and remind us that a life lived with kindness and love leaves an everlasting imprint.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the dedicated caregivers who lovingly cared for Dianne. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the compassionate nurses and staff of Amedisys Home Health, Compassus, and her devoted sitters, whose kindness, patience, dignity, and unwavering support brought comfort not only to her but to our entire family. Your gentle hands, caring hearts, and selfless service will never be forgotten. During one of life’s most difficult seasons, you became a source of strength, peace, and reassurance, and for that, we will be forever grateful.
A celebration of Dianne’s life will be held on Tuesday, June 30th from 5:00 P.M until 8:00 P.M. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee. Burial will follow at Magee Cemetery in Magee, MS. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031
Family and friends are invited to gather to honor her life, share memories, and celebrate the incredible woman she was.
Pallbearers will be Paul Smith, Lance Lowery, Derek Thompson, David Hylender, Chris Runnels, and BJ Wheat.
