Deputy Michael Payne with the Simpson County Sheriff Office was honored by the Simpson County Board of Supervisors with a resolution and plaque honoring him for being named Top Cop 2021. Board President Randy Moore read the resolution during their regular scheduled meeting Monday, June 14th.  Sheriff Mullins, Board of Supervisors, and Payne posed for a picture.

The board approved to hire two part-time employees and three full-time employees for the road department. The board approved to purchase a garbage bin for the road department at a cost of $230.00 and an $84.00 monthly agreement for 1-year. Road Manager Ben Warren stated “we hope to start the rock and tar project for the county later in the week weather permitting.”

Cyndi Robinson Cook and her boss Matthew met before the board concerning Marsy’s Law. The representatives are seeking support for Marsy’s Law. The Marsy’s Law would update the 1998 victims’ rights constitutional amendment by giving crime victims the ability to enforce their rights in a court of law if they feel they’ve been infringed upon during the criminal justice process. The board agreed to take the information under advisement.
