The Simpson County Board of Supervisors meting was called to order by President Danny Craft Monday, January 4, 2021. First order of business was the election of new officers for the 2021 year. Randy Moore was elected President. Brian Kennedy was elected Vice President.

Sheriff Paul Mullins requested Amanda Bynum moved from part-time to full-time non-certified dispatcher.

Mullins advised some inmates have tested positive for COVID. The Sheriff Department is working to keep the inmates separated and under control at this time. Mullins requested utilizing inmates on Fridays for garbage collection around the county.

County Engineer Buddy Woolverton updated the board on the status of State Aid and LSBP Projects.

Surface Maintenance on Cato Road is at 27.41% completed. The Contractor has completed the base repairs and leveling. Project will be resealed next year.

Surface Maintenance on Mt. Zion to Shivers Road and St. Johns Road is at 36.72% completed. Contractor has completed base repairs and leveling. Project will be resealed next spring.

Bridge replacement on Sofa Road has P.S. & E. assembled and mailed to State Aide December 29, 2020. The project is awaiting authorization to advertise before moving forward.

Grade, drain, base and surface for Star to Braxton Road is at the stage of working on assembly of P.S. & E to be mailed. Utility agreements have been mailed. The acquiring right of way can begin.

Rhuel Dickinson, County Administrator, presenting the following for approval:

Permission was given to authorize a movie scene to be film in the old Simpson County Jail on or around February 7, 2021.

The board agreed to advertise the purchase 2 used boom as tractors by using reverse auction.

Lumber to build a dog house for the county law enforcement dog Montana was approved by the board.

Future Board Meeting:

  • Friday, January 15, 2020 – Recessed Meeting
  • Monday, February 1, 2021 – Regular Meeting
  • Tuesday, February 16, 2021 – Recessed Meeting

Holidays: 

  • Martin Luther King Jr./Robert E Lee Holiday – Monday, January 18, 2021.
  • President’s Day Holiday – Monday, February 15, 2021.

No further business meeting was adjourned.
