Sunday at The San was another great event celebrating the Simpson County Bicentennial in Magee. The day started with a delicious lunch served in the dining hall, followed by a wonderful program in the beautiful auditorium. Guests were welcomed by bicentennial community member, Lee Maddox, and Clint Ashley, Director of Boswell Regional Center. Mr. Ashley recognized the family members of Dr. Boswell and Dr. Watkins, the two directors of the Sanatorium, that were in attendance.
Miss Minnie Holloway shared her beautiful voice in song.
Dr. Charles Pruitt, III, shared several stories and many interesting facts about Dr. Henry Boswell, who started The Sanatorium in 1916.
Betty Ann Stubbs was supposed to share her personal story but was unable to due to illness, but allowed her story to be shared by Jean Allen.
A community choir led by Brother Lance Word sang several old hymns and closed out the program with “God Bless America.” Ms. Doris Tullos, Jeff Blackwell, and Will Harper played the keyboard.
Reverend Havard McDonald led the benediction.
The powerhouse, Preventorium, and the museum were open for guests to tour, and current and former Boswell employees shared neat facts at each location.
It was a beautiful day enjoyed by everyone in attendance at Sunday at The San!
