The cool darkness of the early morning brings me to my knees as I thank God for His saving grace…Yes, we suffered a huge forest fire that burned approximately 150 acres …coming close to Zion Hill and Co-Lin Community College…but our firemen fought hard and no structure was damaged. Because I grew up in a home with the “fire-chief” (my daddy), I am acutely aware of the dangers of fire…and the danger to the men and women who fight these fires. I know the beast (fire) and I’ve watched and listened to the talk of it’s power. Thank you God for wrapping your arms around our county and its people.
Following the late afternoon fire, the truck sirens were heard again in Magee at approximately 10:40 PM as the trucks rolled again to a grass fire on Emmit Brown Road. These men had just returned from fighting over a 6 hour fire only to “roll again.” Our firemen are volunteers…they don’t get paid…they love our community, county, and state to give of their time for our safety. I appreciate these men. As I listed to the need for ice and water for the fireman, I wanted to haul everything I had to Zion Hill Road…but my daddy was adamant when I was growing up not to get in the way of the trucks or the men fighting the fires…so I just prayed. The dispatchers did an awesome job..as did the fire coordinator. Thanks to everyone who gave of their time and energy to keep me safe!
Special prayers for Delmas McAlpin who is in ICU in a Jackson hospital. Mr. Bill Parham is scheduled to be moved to Hillcrest the first of the week. Travis Williams remains in Swing Bed at Magee. Precious Joyce Walker is in ICU at Wesley in Hattiesburg…pray for Joyce…she is very sick. Nelson Wells, Glenda Busby’s dad, is at Magee General Hospital. John Welch is a patient at UMMC. Prayers for Lewis and Bernadine Masburn. Ray Cockrell is in Forrest General Hospital following a fall that broke his leg. Ray really needs our prayers.
James Peden sent me the following info and update on his sweet wife, Janet:
“Just got home from Ms Sports Medicine. Dr Johnson said he is baffled about Janet’s Knee swelling and pain. He said that the only thing he knows to do is to Go in and look around and see what the cause is. Therefore an exploratory Arthroscope is scheduled for October 21 at Baptist Hospital. We have to be there at 07:00. Please add Janet to your prayer List as she is not taking this very well. Thank you for all your prayers about this.
I will keep you posted as we go along. GOD Bless each and every one of you.”
Have a blessed Sunday.
