Sue Hancock Brown, 82, of Sylvarena, Mississippi passed away Friday, January 19, 2024, at Jasper General Nursing Home in Bay Springs. She was born at home in Sylvarena on December 7, 1941.
Sue was a faithful and dedicated member of Sylvarena Baptist Church where she served as church secretary for many years, also a member of the church choir.
She was a babysitter for many of the children in the community. She worked with Fail Telecommunications for over 20 years where she was dedicated to taking care of Christa and Ali where they referred to her as “Mama Sue”.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Lace and Mable Huckeby Hancock; her brothers, Max and Charlie Hancock; sisters, Fay Stringer, Betty James, and Rachel McCrory.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Paul Brown; sons, Craig (Lisa) and Derrick Brown; daughter, Lacey (Daniel) Thielemann; grandchildren, Andi, Micah, Myles, Annistyn Brown, Luke and Thomas Thielemann; brother; Joe (Dianne) Hancock; sister, Barbara (John) Pugh; sister-in-laws, Pellie and Janice Hancock; brother-in-law Lex James and host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be, George Brown, Jackie Dollar, Charles Dee Hancock, Austin Hollingsworth, Joel Houston, Cliff James, Landon (Skip) Pugh, and Stacey Stringer.
Honorary pallbearers will be Terry James, Carson Graham, and Gird Warren.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 25, 2024, from 5:00 to 8:00PM and Services Friday, January 26, 2024, 11:00AM at Sylvarena Baptist Church with burial to follow in Bay Springs Cemetery.
Bro. Rusty Stockman will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs is in charge of arrangements. 601-764-2181.
