Sue Ann McDonald Gambrell
(July 5, 1033 – October 3, 2022)
Sue Ann McDonald Gambrell, 89, of the Summerland Community in Taylorsville, MS entered eternal rest Monday, Oct. 3, 2022 at the Robertsdale Healthcare Center in Robertsdale, AL. Visitation will be at 10:00 am Monday October 10, 2022 at Summerland Baptist Church outside Taylorsville, MS with the funeral services following at 11:00 am. Burial will immediately follow in the Summerland Cemetery. Services will be handled by Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Taylorsville with Dr. Argile Smith officiating.
Sue was born in Port Tampa City, Florida on July 5, 1933 where she mainly lived until she met her future husband Donald Gambrell who was in the Air Force and stationed in Tampa. After graduation from Plant High School and Donald’s return from the Korean Conflict, they were married on September 8, 1951. They moved to numerous places as Donald served in the military. When Donald retired from the Air Force they moved to Summerland, MS to farm on land originally homesteaded by her husband’s family. She loved the outdoors, working in the yard, her grandchildren and helping others. She was a member of the Summerland Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ilah McDonald; her husband, Donald Gambrell; brothers, Jeff and Mike McDonald; son-in-law, Charlie McDaniel; and great-granddaughter, Hallie Haven Zehner.
She is survived by all four of her children: Terrie McDaniel (late-Charlie) of Spanish Fort, AL; Don Gambrell, Jr. (Laurie) of Summerland; Charlie Gambrell (Michelle) of McKinney, TX; and David Gambrell (Amy) of Birmingham, AL. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Suzie McDaniel; Ali Bolton (Will); Caroline Gray (Tyler); Matt Gambrell; Kelly Grant (Matthew); Brittany Dryden (Cody); Emily Zehner (Curtis); and Ben Gambrell (Savannah). Her great-grandchildren include Adeline Bolton, Charlie Bolton, Elizabeth Bolton, Addison Grant, Caleb Grant, Blythe Grant, Lincoln Grant, Tucker Dryden, Beau Dryden, Jovie Zehner, Lucie Zehner and Theo Gambrell.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to The Samaritan Purse or the But God Ministries.
