An on going discussion at the City of Magee Board of Aldermen meeting is “why don’t our street lights work?”

Our lights are powered by Entergy and Southern Pine.  The lights on Highway 49 are both Entergy and Southern Pine.

I received a call this week about “how to or who to” I report a street light outage.

Calling City Hall is one way.  But, I think the best way is to contact Entergy online.  lighting@energy.com  Entergy will need some info!  Each power pole has a number…submit that number.  You need somewhat of an address.  (Sometimes we see a light out but have no idea what street the light is located. You can give directions…such as 3rd light south of Main Street on Jones Street.)

Brent and Susan Walker went on a street light mission a few weeks ago.  They decided to take a few minutes and ride around Magee checking street lights and found 16 not working.  Once the information was turned in (by email) to Entergy, 15 are now working!  (One that was turned in was at a private home where no one lived.). We need our citizens to help us!

So many of us stay discouraged about the “state” of our city.  (I am one for sure) We need everyone on board to help and assist as we endeavor to right some wrongs.

Check your street light!

I have found that many of the poles do not have numbers this large…But there is a number there!
This iight pole is located in front of my home. As you can tell, my “pole” number is not large and cannot be read from the street.

checking the lights should be the responsibility of the city or each alderman in their area
