Two bids were submitted at the Thursday night, December 13th Simpson County School Board Meeting for the old Magee Elementary School property. The highest bid was for $2,501. The bid was rejected by the board. Discussion continues to deed the school property to the City of Magee. An additional presentation will be made by a group composed of Mayor Dale Berry, Alderman Patrick Brown, City Attorney Bruce Smith, and Darnell Moffett explaining how the city will use the gifted property.
Alderman Patrick Brown is working with the Head Start program to bring a regional Head Start program to the old Magee Elementary facility. Head Start will assume the responsibility of cleaning up the area as well as dealing with the asbestos in the older buildings.
