Stephen Rayborn has been named as a STAR (Student-Teacher Achievement Recognition) Student for the 2014-2015 school year by the Mississippi Economic Council (MEC) M. B. Swayze Foundation, sponsor of the STAR program. Stephen is the son of Andy and Lisa Rayborn of Mendenhall. After high school Stephen wishes to attend the University of Mississippi and become a pharmacist or businessman. His main goal in life is to be wealthy and successful.
Star Students are selected on the basis of academic excellence. Both American College Test scores and scholastic averages are compared to determine the school’s STAR Student. The STAR program encourages and promotes academic achievement among Mississippi’s high school seniors. Each STAR Student is asked to designate a STAR Teacher, the teacher who has made the greatest contribution to the student’s scholastic achievement. Dr. Wyck Neely was designated as this year’s STAR Teacher. Stephen will be honored during the annual Education Celebration on April 30 at the Jackson Convention Center in downtown Jackson. Stephen Rayborn and Dr. Wyck Neely will also be recognized at the Magee Chamber of Commerce banquet on Tuesday, March 24, 2015.
