By James Davis
The Scriptural passage for today is found in 1 Corinthians 15:58: “My dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” Again and again, the apostles saw the need for keeping a close check on the early Christian congregations as they, the apostles, helped establish churches throughout Asia Minor. Those apostles, each serving as a small cheering squad through personal visits and a stream of letters, knew what it would take for ultimate success against a world of evil. They encouraged those members to remain firm in their conviction to serve God, look after one another, and strive for the common good. The goal remains for us to strive to win the prize of the high calling by keeping a firm focus on God, the author and finisher of our faith. The Word of God for the people of God; thanks be to God! Amen! Please attend a worship service this morning with others of like faith and persuasion. If unable, tune in to one of the many radio or television offerings. Stand firm in the faith and serve the Lord with gladness!
Happy Sunday!
