This week I had an article written on shirts and tops but I changed my mind after traveling because I’m always inspired to write about what I see and learn on my journey.

As my husband attended a conference in Anaheim, California. I had time on my own to entertain myself. Spending time alone gets me back in touch with myself. I can discover so much about who I am when I am alone and gives me time to pray, and recharge. Just like when we update our apps on our phones, we need to update ourselves. When we spend time alone we can measure our growth in different ways, by reflecting and making a to-do list for the future. I have a few suggestions you may want to try when you spend time alone that will help you see your progress and make you feel better happier and more inspired.

Journaling. Journals are not just for unloading your thoughts, writing down your prayers, and memories. Journaling is a great tool for setting priorities. Create a to-do list on how you want to tackle certain tasks in a day. It insures that we will be organized in our achievements and helpful in our intentions with our thoughts and prayer life. Journaling doesn’t have to be daunting. Taking a few minutes even at the end of each day to jot down your prayer request and daily accomplishment(s) keeps us at the center of our interest and builds our confidence. Once our achievement has been met, it helps with our prospective in everything we do.

Flea Market or Farmers Market. I love going to a good flea market or farmers market. Its fun with family or friends but its fun alone too. If your alone you have more time to browse for specifics of what your looking for.

Go to a Movie. Movies are a form of art to me and I love the stories behind each film. This is also fun with family but can be inspiring when you go alone. Grab a popcorn and just take yourself to a different place.

Dinner. Take yourself to dinner once in a while. When my husband travels its nice to take a day where I go do something for myself;  whether its a spa day, shopping day, or just a day I don’t have anything special planned but take yourself to a restaurant you love and just indulge in a meal you enjoy. I usually go to the restaurant that is not a favorite of my husbands when he is not with me.

Shop. I can happily shop with friends any day of the week but I always prefer to do it alone. Shopping for some specifics or window shopping can both be exhilarating. It means I don’t have to inconvenience anyone else if I take some extra time to consider all my options. I feel that I am more efficient and productive when I shop alone.

Enjoy a Park. This is a great option especially when your traveling to a bigger city. No one enjoys a picnic more that myself and if you pack a lunch or snack and carry a blanket, a good book, laptop or I-Pad you are able to relax and de-stress.

Go for a Swim or Jog. These are great low-impact options that are also rejuvenating. Do what you like and have a pleasant time with it.

Be creative. Scrapbook. Write. Paint. Cook. It doesn’t matter. Whenever you have time for yourself find an outlet for your creativity.

When we are young we aren’t as confident because we lack experience and connections. As we mature life experiences, travel, different cultures and reading helps us build character and forming our own convictions. We all have separate lives and roads to choose but one thing is for certain we have to pursue our desires in life and sometimes that means taking a leap of faith to get there. I believe as we spend time on our own it helps with keeping us accountable to our responsibilities and what we face day-to-day with positivity.
